About ClearScore
ClearScore is a service that lets you see your credit score and your credit report for free, forever. We operate in in the UK, South Africa, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. In the UK, we work with Equifax, one of the main credit reference agencies, to get your up‑to‑date information. Equifax sends us your credit report every week and you can look at it as many times as you like – checking it doesn’t hurt your score. Understanding your report can help you plan your finances and pay off debts.
Who can use ClearScore?
To use ClearScore in South Africa, you must be at least 18 years old. We can only provide you with a credit report if we're able to verify your identity and the mobile number linked to your financial accounts.
What we do show on your credit information
We give you your credit score and credit report for free and update it every week. Your credit report information comes from your bank, lenders, courts and utility providers. It tells lenders how you have managed borrowing in the past and helps you see what affects your score.
Credit Health and coaching
The Credit Health section of the app helps you understand your financial situation and shows you the details of your credit report. If you’d like to learn more about personal finance and credit, we offer bite-sized videos and articles that are a great place to start your financial education.
Personalised offers
We’re a credit broker - in your Offers section you can see personalised products like credit cards, loans and car finance. We also show you how likely you are to be accepted before you apply. You can compare as many offers as you like, without hurting your credit score. ClearScore is a broker, not a lender. We earn a commission if you choose a product, but you never have to apply and we never order products by how much we’re paid.
Protecting your identity
When you sign up, you also get Protect, which looks for stolen passwords linked to your email address and lets you know. This helps you feel safe knowing your identity is protected against fraud.
How we make money
ClearScore is completely free to you. We make money when a lender pays us a small fee if you decide to take one of the personalised offers we show you. You’re never required to apply for any offers and our service stays free either way..
