If there is an enquiry on your report that you don’t recognise, it could be because sometimes, small lenders are owned by a larger organisations and the enquiry will appear under a different company name.
However, if you don’t recognise the enquiry details at all i.e. the date or you haven’t applied for any products. The best way to see whether an enquiry should be on your report is to contact the lender directly to see why it’s showing up.
If this is a mistake on the lender’s part, they’ll need to amend their records and provide this information to Experian (our data provider). The updated information will take up to 60 days to reflect on your ClearScore report.
If after 60 days, the incorrect enquiry is still showing, you’ll need to raise a dispute with Experian.
You can contact Experian directly on 0117993403, or raise a dispute via our
contact form.
When raising a dispute with Experian, please make sure that you:
- Raise the dispute with the email registered to your ClearScore account.
- Outline the full details of your query.
- Provide your ID number.
- Attach any supporting documents.
Please be aware that Experian can take up to 20 business days to come to a resolution, though the process is usually much faster than that.
