“Building your report” means you have a thin credit file: there isn’t enough credit history available for us to show your score and report yet.
This message replaces the “-1” previously shown for thin credit files. It doesn’t mean your credit score has fallen below zero.
What can I do?
Explore the actions on your Home screen:
- Review your details: Check that your name, identification details and address are accurate.
- Get some bills in your name: Learn how accounts with providers that report payment information to credit bureaus can help build a financial history.
- Explore credit-building products: Learn about the options and consider whether they suit your circumstances.
If your personal details are incorrect, you’ll need to delete your ClearScore account and sign up again using the correct information. Contact our support team for help with this.
When will I get a score?
That depends on when enough information becomes available in your credit file. There isn’t a guaranteed timeframe for receiving a score.
Completing or marking checklist items as done doesn’t automatically create a credit score or report.
You can continue using the features available in your account and exploring the learning content while you build your credit history.
What if I see “We can’t find your credit report right now” during registration?
This is a different situation from seeing “Building your report” on your Home screen. It means we haven’t found a credit file for you and can’t complete your registration.
The registration screen explains that Experian is creating your credit file. Select Contact support team for help. For this specific registration journey, the next step shown is to ask support to delete your account, then sign up again after one week.
This instruction applies to that registration message. You don’t need to delete your account simply because your home screen says “Building your report”.
