There are a few reasons why old information might show as new on your credit report:
- The lender has started sharing this information with Experian, our data provider
- The name or number of an account has changed since last month, so it appears as a new account
- A financial account is now showing on your report when it was not there last month, so it appears under What has changed
- You’ve recently changed jobs, or your previous employer has started sharing data with Experian
- You’ve recently moved home and updated your credit accounts with your new address, or one of your old providers has just shared this address with Experian
If you think something on your report is incorrect, you can raise a dispute with Experian through our chat on the right-hand side of this page.
