If your score appears as "?" or any number less than 0 (such as 0 or -1), it's more of a status indicator than your actual score. This status means you either don't have a credit file or have a "thin" file. Your credit file doesn't have enough data to place you on a scale of where you sit financially.
What you can do
Your credit report will have insights to help you understand why you're in that status of no score (e.g. you may have 0 active accounts). Try to keep an account open and active for as long as possible.
Check your report carefully to see if any information isn't correct. Incorrect information affects your score. If something is incorrect or missing, raise a dispute with Experian.
We have features available for you even when we can't get your credit score and report:
- Go beyond your credit score with Credit Health.
- Offers to build your score.
